General information

Early booking is recommended as these special tours could be fully booked by the time of the conference. Please indicate the tours of your choice on the online booking form and this should be accompanied by payment in full.

Site Visits

  1. June 20, 2010 1pm - 9 pm. Visit to Evergreen project sites in Tongwei, Gansu, includes dinner and transportation 300 RMB ($45 USD at exchange rate on 10/1/2009)
  2. June 24th, 2010 9am - 5pm. Visit to Evergreen project sites in Tianzhu, Gansu, includes lunch and transportation 300 RMB

Pre-conference Tour

June 16 - June 20, 2010. Includes Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Library, Yu Garden and Temple Bazaar, National Library in Beijing, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Great Wall and the Ming Tombs. Flights include Shanghai to Beijing and Beijing to Lanzhou. Pickup at Shanghai airport is included for arrivals on June 16th only.

The World Expo is on in Shanghai May 1 to Oct 31, 2010. If you wish to tour the Expo 2010 Shanghai, please consult the Expo 2010 official website to make arrangements.

There will be a number of day tours available in Lanzhou from June 20 through June 24th, 2010. Details to follow.

Post-conference Tour

Silk Road of Gansu

June 24 –June 30, 2010. A 7 day tour of the silk road in Gansu. Our first stop will include Shek Mun Gap, Gap Sands, Heaven Temple at Tianzhu (one of Evergreen sites). You will also visit Evergreen libraries and schools there. Next stop is Xia He’s Labrang Temple. This is one of the six great temples in the “Yellow Hat” school of Tibetan Buddhism. It is one of the most important of the Tibetan Buddhist temples and second in size only to the Potala Palace in Lhasa. The Yellow river, which is very important throughout China’s history, begins at Xia He and you will visit the site of the 1st bridge in China. Next we will go to the Bingling Thousand Buddha cave by boat before taking the night train to Dunhuang. At Dunhuang you will visit the famous Mogao Grottoes which contain thousands of priceless paintings and sculptures. You will experience how the traders of the silk road years ago travel by riding on a camel and sliding down sand hills. The tour ends after a flight back to Lanzhou from Dunhuang.

The cost of this 7 day, 6 night tour (including all entrance fees, hotels for double occupancy, all meals, overnight soft berth from Lanzhou to Dunhuang, land transportation, boat ride, flight from Dunhuang to Lanzhou, camel ride, sand slide, one music performance in Dunhuang) is 7400 RMB or $1089 USD at exchange rate on 12/8/09. (For single supplement add 1050 RMB or $155 USD at exchange rate on 12/8/09)

Cancellation

Should you wish to cancel or amend a tour booking this request must be made in writing by email to the Conference Secretariat and received no later than June 1, 2010. A cancellation fee applies for different types of tours or site visits:

Post-conference tour TBD

After June 1, 2010 no refunds can be made if you cancel your tour.

Disclaimer

The Conference Secretariat reserves the right to cancel tours in the event that minimum numbers are not reached to enable these to be viable. Should this occur, delegates will be advised in advance of cancellation and offered the option to book an alternative tour or alternatively receive a full refund of any deposits paid.
