Biography of PETER X. ZHOU

PETER X. ZHOU 周欣平 is the Director of the C. V. Starr East Asian Library and Assistant University Librarian at the University of California, Berkeley. A leading expert in the field of East Asian librarianship, Dr. Zhou has written and spoken widely on scholarly communication, global information service, East Asian librarianship, Chinese historical texts, and linguistics. He has been a consultant for major universities and foundations in the United States and Asia on collection building and information infrastructure in regard to the study of Asia.

Born in Wuhan, China, Dr. Zhou holds a PhD in Linguistics and an MS in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master's degree in English from Wuhan University. He is the editor or co-editor of three books and has published over 40 articles in interventional scholarly journals. His forthcoming publication is an edited volume titled Collecting Asia: East Asian Libraries in North America, 1868-2008 by Association for Asian Studies in 2010.
