Who Should Attend

If you are an information professional of researcher interested in presenting your cultural perspectives on social and ethical issues related to information and information technology use, this conference is for you.

If you are a teacher or librarian interested in sharing experience and tactics of using information technology for teaching and learning in classrooms and beyond with your counterparts halfway around the world, this conference is for you.

If you have a success story to share, an idea to present, and research findings to report, we welcome you to consider contributing a paper/presentation.

We welcome contributions from those in information technology industry involved in serving education.

By bringing together educators from various academic disciplines, this conference will facilitate the exchange of ideas and perspectives from both sides of the Pacific Ocean on how school libraries can better assist teachers and students with use of information technology.

 

 Types of Contributions

  • Papers & Reports. in this category may be empirical research, theoretical analysis, discussion on policy and infrastructure, course/curriculum design, and project/program reports.
  • Teaching/Courseware Demonstration. Contributions in this category may be demonstration of instructional techniques and/or courseware in any subject fields. Each teaching demo will be paired in presentation with one from the other side of the Pacific Ocean, in the same discipline, whenever possible.

Conference Topic

The conference will cover a broad range of topics on the social and ethical issues related to information use and the relevancy of information technology in education. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:  

  • Ethical and social issues in the use of information and information technology
  • Perspectives and cultural differences in information-related ethics
  • The role of the library in making available IT in education
  • Social concerns of the use of information and information technology
  • The librarian/teacher’s role in teaching ethical and responsible use of information and information technology
  • The librarian’s role in assisting educators build curriculum and teaching modules using information technology
  • Use of information and information technology in teaching sciences
  • Use of information and information technology in humanity and social sciences teaching Cultural differences and IT usage in education
