Biography of Dr. Brian Q. Cannon

Brian Q. Cannon is professor of history at Brigham Young University. For the past 10 years he has been director of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies, a major collector of oral history in the Intermountain Region of the United States. He received his Ph.D. in American History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. from Utah State University. He is past president of the Agricultural History Society and an associate editor of Agricultural History. His publications, which make extensive use of oral history, focus on land-use, family and community, and government policy in the rural American West during the 20th century. He has received awards for his publications from the Western History Association, Phi Alpha Theta, the Agricultural History Society and the Society for History in the Federal Government.
