Evergreen Education Foundation Programs:
|
Evergreen Education Foundation's main program is its Rural High
School Library Program.
For participating rural high school libraries, our goal is to provide
assistance to:
-
Develop an appropriate collection profile that fits the
community and provide funds for the purchase of books and periodicals.
-
Identify and purchase appropriate computer hard/software for
the operation of the library.
-
Provide training workshops on the use of technology for the
librarians.
-
Provide information literacy workshops for faculty, students
and the general public.
To complement our library program, Evergreen has established a
Scholarship Program for middle and senior high school students at the targeted
schools and nearby communities. Our students are expected to provide some
service to the community. Students at our library program schools are expected
to volunteer as assistants in the library. Some students in minority areas are
expected to borrow books from the library to help teach their parents how read
in the summer months, etc. An important part of the design of the scholarship
program is our group of mentors. The mentors correspond with individual
students and provide warmth and guidance to our students and to our program
committee with valuable input.
From time to time we expect to do some Special Projects. They will be announced
here.
We also lists Other Worthwhile Projects and hope interested individuals or
organizations will be interested.
