BRINGING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO RURAL CHINA

Programs

Evergreen Education Foundation Programs are advancing educational opportunity of the children and community living in the countryside. We start by going to underdeveloped areas and talking with the local educators and community leaders. The next step is to collaborate with the local educators to design programs to fill the gaps needed for a modern, well-rounded education. Often we branch out with our programs to add value in the local community, and our scholarship program helps promising individual students. We follow up each program with comprehensive validation and assessment, which we use to evaluate the resulting data to improve our future programs. All the way during this process, we witness the growth and achievement of everyone participating and contributing into it, including the rural teachers and librarians, the students and community members, and our staff and volunteers.

Here are the focus areas of our programs:

  • LibrariesWe assist the libraries to automate circulation,  train librarians, and develop service programs to encourage library patrons and community members to use of the library.

  •

ScholarshipsWe provide scholarships for rural high school students and continue supporting them through the early years of college. We encourage our scholarship students to participate by working a few hours a week in their libraries and upon graduation to serve as volunteers in various capacities within our organization

  • Initiatives and Collaboration Projects: We support and guide annual collaboration projects designed to meet educational needs identified by multiple local participants from several different locations, we provide opportunities for longer term initiatives by concentrating our resources and developing a common support platform for projects taken under these initiatives.

  • Training: Each year we organize an international  conference or a workshop for rural educators and librarians, world-wide educators, library professionals, and ICT experts to meet and exchange ideas. Besides face-to-face exchanges, we also develop online course (link to Courses) and materials to help train the rural teachers and librarians.
